The paper I wrote was from the point of view of Aphrodite. We were working on a unit about Greek Mythology. We really got to know the Greek beliefs and the stories behind everything. The Gods and Goddesses were the main things we focused on a lot they were really interesting especially their reactions to certain events. It was more of the people trying to depict their deity with something relatable or similar themselves.
We were giving this assignment for a simulation in class to decide Narcissus’ punishment. Every student got to choose which God or Goddesses they wanted to be and represent them at the simulation. The purpose of the simulation was to get a better understanding of each deity and to try to understand their way of thought and reason for the decisions they make.
The deity I chose was Aphrodite. I chose her because she was probably the only deity who I didn’t think was totally ridiculous. Also sense the whole situation had to do with Love I thought she would be the most involved and affected by the situation. I also thought it would be interesting to be her because Narcissus’ crimes mainly had to do with his looks and his vanity over said looks so it would be interesting to see what Aphrodite’s input would be in the situation seeing as how she also can be vain at times. But in the end after all I learned the one big thing was that the deity never treated a situation fairly even if they themselves make mistakes they tend to be cruel and over exaggerate their punishment.
I gave myself these grades because I really did try to think of the situation from every possible angle I could think of and tried to represent Aphrodite to the best of my abilities. Also I put my opinions and facts very obvious and I backed up everything I stated with an explanation but I do think I could have done better. I didn’t really use any digital technology for my paper. I also didn’t really cite anything. But I also used my sentence correctly and more or less had perfect grammar I got to the point and stated my choice clearly.
